HyFiber with FOS Liquid

      Hyfiber with FOS is a unique soluble fiber containing the prebiotic FOS. HyFiber is a colorless natural bulking agent with a hint of citrus flavor. It is instantly dispersible and can be added to all type of liquids and soft foods or it can be dispensed directly from a medicine cup. HyFiber contains 1.7 grams of Fructo-Oligosaccarides (FOS) per 30 mL dose. FOS is found in many types of vegetables and consists of short chains fructose molecules that are only partially digested. The undigested portion serves as food for "friendly'" bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacillus. Unlike a powder Hyfiber with FOS is a Liquid and can be added to any beverage or dosed with a 1oz medicine cup.

HyFiber with FOS Liquid Indications

• Chronic constipations
• Dysphagia diets
• Chronic laxative and stool softener use
• Poor dietary intake
• Management of chronic bowel disease

HyFiber with FOS Liquid Dosing

Week One: Discontinue all powder psyllium fiber and all fiber juice products. Administer 30 mL of HyFiber with FOS as a med pass or add to 4 fl oz. of a beverage once per day.

Week Two: Discontinue all laxatives and stool softeners. Increase HyFiber with FOS to 30 mL BID.

Week Three: Maintain 30 mL BID or decrease to 30 mL once a day as needed or directed by a healthcare specialist.

Tube Feeding: Mix with 30 mls of water. Infuse via syringe down feeding tube. Flush tube with 15-30 mls of water before and after administration. Can be mixed with enteral formula.
